USS Achernar Class Heavy Cruiser

One of the most famous of the Constitution class of starships was the Achernar class refit built during the cold war with the Klingon Empire in the 2260s. It was this class of ship that Captain James Tiberius Kirk would command as USS Enterprise after Pike's Bonhomme Richard class was upgraded in 2265. The BonHomme Richard's LN-32s were replaced with LN-47 high-power Warp engine units and a newer and larger 5th generation saucer section with more labs, and science facilities replaced the older 4th generation design. The armor plating was a newer Roddenium-Duralium composite. The older phasers were replaced by blooming-phasers capable of causing a phaser-burst against targets.
